Product Information

This pack includes the two Hovver Bots and two flying bases. One of the bots is a Piggy-Back Bot (Piggy Bot, Pig or J.C.Bot) which is used for heavy lifting and maintenance. This resin bot comes with a separate cast metal arm and a piece of mechanical luggage. The Shopbot, which is smaller, helps with your shopping. Please see the notes below and their suggested game statistics. The bases are approx 26mm round.

Shopbot

Designation: Shopper’s personal carrying robot (Domestic class)

Carrying capacity: 100kg

Speed (any >horizontal direction): 8”/round (15metres/sec), instant acceleration/decelleration

Spin: 360o in each round.

Ceiling: the ceiling

Battery duration: 24 hours without re-charging

Notes: not waterproof and can only ‘hover’ in a vacuum or zero G.

Fitted with an anit-grav engine this robot floats at approximately 900mm above the floor. The height will be adjusted automatically to suit the users loading or unloading requirements, dipping to assist with heavy items. Manoeuvrability is provided by 4 turbo jets which swivel to give forward, backward, sideways or ‘spin’ motion. The jets are ambient air only and so do not pose a safety risk to humans. Small pets need to be kept clear however.

The top surface is perforated to provide a gentle suction, which serves to keep the user’s shopping in place, even during acceleration or braking. These perforations also form the intake for the manoeuvring jets.

The bot will follow its user at a distance of 500mm (keeps in base to base contact) unless something or somebody intervenes. Where separation from it’s user increases beyond 500mm the bot will remain stationary for two minutes. Where contact with its last known user is not re-established within this period, the bot and its cargo, will return to the central security station for collection. Collision sensors keep the ‘bot’ clear of pedestrians and structures. In case somebody accelerates toward the bot more quickly than it can respond then there is an inflated cushion on the perimeter of this model. This also saves the paintwork where the bot’s sense of direction malfunctions!

As with any useful domestic appliance the capabilities of this unit can be ‘hacked’ and abused by unauthorised personnel. It has become popular to fit these units out with blades or even twin linked machine guns.

There is a 25% chance that the hacking is entirely successful, which is modified by the hacker’s technical skill (up or down depending). Where there is a failure in this attempt to modify the bots behaviour, there is a 25% chance that it will just go around in circles, beeping out “Daisy, daisy, give me your answer do....”, 25% chance it will go in a random direction each turn (not following its anti-collision programming, therefore causing damage to people, walls and itself), a 25% chance it will electrocute the hacker and a 25% chance it will float up to the ceiling or sink down to the floor, refusing to budge anywhere else.

Piggy-Back Bot (Piggy Bot, Pig or J.C.Bot)

Designation:  Maintenance Lifting Robot (Industrial Class)

Carrying capacity: 500kg

Speed (any horizontal direction): 4”/round (8metres/sec)

Acceleration: 2”/round fully loaded, immediate unloaded.

Decelleration 2”/round fully loaded, immediate unloaded.

Spin: 360o in each round.

Ceiling: the ceiling

Battery duration: 24 hours without re-charging

Notes: Robotic crane to hoist parts clear of the bot.

The bot will follow a predetermined route (set by its current user) depending on the load it is carrying. Basically this would be from stores to the position of the item to be replaced unless something or somebody intervenes. Where separation from it’s route increases to beyond 4m (2”) the bot will remain stationary for two minutes. Where contact with its last known user is not re-established within this period, the bot and its cargo, will return to the central stores for collection/re-programming. Collision sensors keep the ‘bot’ clear of pedestrians and structures. In case somebody accelerates toward the bot more quickly than it can respond then there is an inflated cushion on the perimeter of this model. This also saves the paintwork where the bot’s sense of direction malfunctions! As with any industrial appliance the capabilities of this unit can be ‘hacked’ and abused by unauthorised personnel. It has become popular to fit these units out with swords, twin linked cannons or industrial lasers. Another common use is to program it to ram and raid credit terminals. The bulk of the body is used to smash the adjacent structure and the arm for collecting the credit terminal. Although incredibly strong, the arm is a bit slow for swordplay and is usually used for grappling, bludgeoning or kidnapping.

There is a 15% chance that the hacking is entirely successful, which is modified by the hacker’s technical skill (up or down depending). Where there is a failure in this attempt to modify the bot’s behaviour, there is a 20% chance that it will just slowly go around in circles, beeping out Tomita’s “Snow-flakes are Dancing” and other Greatest Hits, 20% chance it will go in a random direction each turn (not following its anti-collision programming, therefore causing 2d8 damage to people, walls and itself), a 20% chance it will electrocute the hacker, a 20% chance it will float up to the ceiling or sink down to the floor, refusing to budge anywhere else and a 20% chance it will grab hold of the nearest person or humanoid sized object causing 1d8 damage per round and not let go until it needs charging (24 hours). If after three rounds, its grip is not broken by a combined strength roll of 24 on 3d6 including strength bonuses then the robotic crane-arm will cut through the gripped item, whether it be an arm, leg, neck or handrail.

A Hyper-drive turbo pump-impellor is included with this model. Weighing nearly at the safe working limit of the Piggy Bot, this 450kg screw impellor is one of the most efficient designs currently on the market and is generally fitted only to military vessels.
