Product Information

This wargames terrain combination deal comprises 15 models and saves 10% off the price of buying individual models.

This wargames terrain combined trench set is also suitable for 'near future' scenarios as well as Warhammer 40k and has 9 straight sections, 2 offset bends, 2 concrete reinforced firing positions with roofs and 2 'T' sections.  In addition a free firing step is included. In all, these sections will cover a 4ft table width and are ideal as a defensive feature or to form  communication trenches connecting between fortifications such as tobruks or sandbagged artillery positions (available separately).

The individual dimensions can be found under the separate item descriptions and the combined length across the trenches (not including one firing position) is 1230mm.

This terrain model is also suitable for 1/48 scale model dioramas.

 Suggested layouts

WW2. The concrete reinforced firing positions can be placed in a promontory position, out from the main trench run, or at the ends of the trench to provide flanking cover. A ‘T’ junction can be used to connect the former to the main trench run. The trench can ‘zig-zag’ from side to side to provide an offset in the trenches and protection from enemy assault troops should they gain a portion of the trench.

Trenches were used as firing positions or to connect between shelters, gun-emplacements, tobruks and observation posts within a strong point.

The sandbag gun emplacement or machine gun nest can also be connected to the trench system to provide covering protective fire to artillery gun positions or bunkers.

WW1. The ‘T’ junctions can be used to provide connections to the communication trenches, which run from the frontline trench to the support trench and from the support trench to the reserve trench. Communication trenches ran at approximately right angles to the frontline and support trenches, and were used to bring reserves up from the reserve trench without exposing them to enemy fire. The concrete reinforced firing positions can be placed in a promontory position, out from the support trench and covering fire can be provided by a machine gun located in the comparative safety of what becomes a concrete reinforced ‘blockhouse’.

Offsets can be used to bring sections of the straight trench out from the main line and then back again, using a two pairs of the same offset models.

The wargames terrain surface detail on the embankments has been left relatively smooth and with small pock marks. This means that you have more choice in decoration, such as painting as beach, dunes, grass, mud, even gritted or flocked. The internal dimension for the depth of trench is 33mm on average and will provide sufficient cover for most 25mm to 28mm figures including Warhammer 40k.

Prior to WW1 earth embankments were used in the 7 year war, the American Civil War and the African & Zulu wars. These models can also be used to represent field fortifications utilised during these conflicts.

The trench system is also suitable for 'near future' scenarios as well as Warhammer 40k wargames.

This terrain model is also suitable for 1/48 scale model dioramas.
