Sherman with Bulldozer Blade

Product Code: HF/BL&SH

You will have noticed that there is nearly everything you need on this website to keep out a seaborne invasion such as operation Overlord. However, not everything is as formidable as it seems.  The allies have been busy too!

This model is a Sherman tank complete with a bulldozer blade conversion kit designed to fit a 28mm Sherman model. Fitted to dislodge and remove beach obstacles such as hedgehogs, barbed wire, walls, clear routes of rubble, and fill in ditches and bomb craters. This kit includes a resin bulldozer blade, base and a plastic 28mm Sherman medium tank manufactured by Warlord WGB-A1-502.The resin base comprises a resin bulldozer blade mounted on a scenic base which has tank tracks and broken wire details. The overall dimensions are approx 138mm long, 65mm wide and the distance between blade arms (in which a tank must fit) is 52mm. Small plastic or card pieces, the size of the half-hexagonal brackets (approx 15mm wide), can be glued inside of the arms to fit slimmer tanks.

This model is representative of one of 'Hobart's Funnies', which played a significant part in the conquering of the Atlantic wall on D-Day.

The tank can also fight normally. A must for any assault! Other conversion kits available include a flail Crab tank, DD swimming tank with deflated screen and 'waterline' model of the DD swimming tank also. The blade and base are available separately.

'Hobart's Funnies' were developed by Major Hobart for overcoming fortifications such as the Atlantik wall. Hitler's Atlantik wall stretched over 2,000 miles from Norway to Spain and comprised a deadly combination of beach obstacles, hedgehogs, minefields, dragon's teeth, barbed wire, high sea-walls, anti-tank walls, ditches, gun emplacements and tobruks, which appeared to give an impenetrable terrain defence against sea-borne invasion. Be aware that the British developed ingenious ways around or through these defences and when you are representing these operations in your wargames,  you will need to consider how the allies approached the problem.

Figures in the photos are not included but are for scale purposes only.
